About Cue Club

Cue Club is a 3D 8-ball billiards game on a proper club table: green cloth, wooden rails with diamond sights, leather pockets and a hanging lamp that casts soft shadows under the balls. The glossy numbered balls really roll as they travel, and the lounge around you has a bar, sofas and warm low lighting, so it feels like a late night at the pool hall.

The physics are the real thing. Balls skid before they roll, top spin makes the cue ball follow through, back spin draws it back, and side spin changes how it comes off a cushion. The aim guide shows the first ball you will hit, the ghost ball and where both balls go after contact, and it gets shorter on the harder levels.

You get the full 8 ball rules: the break, an open table until the first ball drops, then solids against stripes. Scratch the cue ball, hit the wrong ball first or touch no cushion and it is a foul, and your opponent gets ball in hand. Clear your group, call a pocket and sink the black to win. Play the computer on three levels or a friend on the same device, and earn XP to unlock new cues and cloth colors.

How to play

  1. Pick a match against the computer (Easy, Pro or Legend) or two players on one device.
  2. Place the cue ball behind the line and smash the rack with a strong break.
  3. The first ball you pot legally sets your group: solids (1 to 7) or stripes (9 to 15).
  4. Aim with the mouse or your finger, choose your spin, then pull back the power and release.
  5. Once your group is cleared, call a pocket and sink the 8 ball there to win the frame.

Controls

KeyboardLeft and right arrows turn the cue (hold Shift for fine aim), up and down change the power. Hold Space to charge a shot and let go to strike. W and S add top and back spin, A and D add side spin. C switches the camera, Esc or P pauses.
MouseIn the top view the cue points at the mouse. Press and pull back away from the ball to set the power and let go to shoot, or drag the power bar at the side. The mouse wheel fine-tunes your aim. In the 3D view, drag sideways to turn and drag down to pull the cue back.
TouchDrag on the table to turn the cue around the white ball and use the ridged strip on the right for fine aim. Pull the power bar on the left down and let go to shoot. Tap the small cue ball in the corner to pick your spin.

Tips to win

  • Don't hit everything at full power: a softer shot drops more often and leaves the cue ball in a better spot.
  • Back spin stops or draws the cue ball, which is the easiest way to avoid following it into the pocket.
  • When there is no easy pot, play safe: nudge one of your balls and leave the cue ball far from your opponent's.
  • With ball in hand, place the cue ball for a straight, short pot.

Cue Club: questions and answers

Is this pool game free?

Yes, it's completely free and runs in your browser with no download, no sign-up and no ads inside the game.

Can I play billiards with a friend?

Yes, there is a two player mode on the same device: you take turns and the game passes the turn by the rules. There is no online play with strangers.

How are the computer levels different?

Easy misses often and goes for simple pots, Pro picks better shots and thinks about the cue ball, and Legend is very accurate, uses spin and plays safe when nothing is on. Your aim guide also gets shorter on harder levels.

What counts as a foul in 8 ball?

Potting the cue ball, missing every ball, hitting your opponent's ball or the 8 first, or hitting a ball without any ball reaching a cushion when nothing drops. Your opponent then gets ball in hand anywhere on the table.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, hold your phone sideways: there is a power bar on the left, a fine aim strip on the right and a spin button. Graphics quality drops automatically on most phones to keep it smooth, and fast phones keep high quality.
