About Penalty Shootout 3D
Penalty Shootout 3D puts you on the spot in a packed stadium under the floodlights, with the crowd singing, flags waving and the keeper bouncing on his line. Pick your country from 16 national teams, aim anywhere in the goal, swipe in an arc to bend the ball around the keeper, and choose your power on the meter. Hit it too hard and it sails over the bar; too soft and the keeper gathers it with ease.
A real shootout is not just about shooting. Kicks alternate, so half the time you are the goalkeeper: as the taker strikes the ball, time slows for a moment and you have to read the shot and dive left or right, high or low. Each side takes five kicks, and a tie goes to sudden death until someone misses. The ball rattles off the post and the bar, the net ripples when it hits the back of it, and the best goals and saves get a slow-motion replay.
Play a knockout cup with 8 or 16 teams and follow the draw all the way to the final and a trophy lift with fireworks. Play a friend on one device, taking turns to shoot and save, or try the target challenge and hit the rings in the corners of the goal. There are three difficulty levels, and your cups and best winning streak are saved on your device.
How to play
- Pick your team and level, then press Shootout vs computer, or choose the cup or the 2-player mode.
- When you shoot, aim with the mouse or your finger at the spot you want, and drag in an arc if you want the ball to curve.
- Once your aim is locked, the power meter rises and falls: click or tap when the needle is in the green zone.
- When you are in goal, watch the run-up and, as the ball is struck, tap or click where it is going or swipe toward it.
- Score more than your opponent in five kicks each, and keep going in sudden death if it is level.
Controls
| Keyboard | Shooting: arrows to aim, A and D to curve the ball, then Space or Enter once to lock your aim and again to shoot when the meter is in the green. In goal: left or right arrow to dive, with up or down for a high or low corner (directions as you see them on screen). P or Esc pauses. |
|---|---|
| Mouse | Move the mouse over the goal to aim and click to lock it; to curve the shot, drag the mouse in an arc while holding the button. Then click again when the power meter is in the green. In goal, click any spot in the goal and the keeper dives for it. |
| Touch | Swipe from the ball toward your spot in the goal (swipe in an arc to curve it), then tap when the meter is in the green. In goal, tap a spot in the goal or swipe the way you want to dive. |
Tips to win
- High corners are the hardest to save, but if the power needle reaches the red the ball flies over the bar.
- Curve fools keepers: the ball sets off one way and bends the other, so a keeper who reads the first direction dives the wrong way.
- In goal, don't dive too early. Good penalty takers watch the keeper and put it the other way.
- In the target challenge, the gold rings in the top corners are worth 100, and hitting rings in a row multiplies your points.
